The three print works, “View of Spartina x Townsendii 1-3” focus on the weed by the same name. Townsend’s cordgrass is used all over the Netherlands, a country famous for being under sea level, because of its ability to prevent coastal erosion. Using technology and nature has been a constant battle of the Dutch to create their own environment, this delicate dance between controlling and being at the mercy of nature hangs in the balance ever more. The 3D rendered images printed on black and white photopaper, question the role of both photography and technology to properly capture nature.
